Story Squares

I have to admit, I am not the most up-to-date when it comes to social media trends. However, I saw a number of creators starting to crochet granny squares to represent each book they read. As someone who is a fan of both reading and crochet this seemed like a perfect project to start this year out with!

Materials

A rainbow of mini-skeins of Catona Scheepj's yarn in a brown craft paper box.

Catona Color Pack by Scheepjes- it is a color pack that includes all 109 of their colors in convenient 10gram/28 yard mini-skeins in fingering/sport weight yarn. Given the fact that I need to have a wide array of colors this is the perfect selection for this project. The best part is that it is 100% mercerized cotton which will be both durable and beautiful.

Pattern

I wanted something a little “snazzier” than a normal granny square, but still wanted something that was easy to remember and decided on the Crochet Granny Square Mosaik : Step-by-Step Tutorial by Claudetta Crochet

Books

Now this is the fun part! My goal is to read more books this year. This includes audio books and physical books.

  • On Tyranny- Timothy Snyder
  • Bound to the Shadow God- Ruby Dixon
  • Stealing Little Moon: The Legacy of the American Indian Boarding Schools- Dan SasuWeh Jones
  • Witchcraft for Wayward Girls- Grady Hendrix (one of my all-time favorite authors)
  • How to Blow up a Pipeline- Andreas Malm
  • How to Spot a Fascist – Umerto Eco
  • And many, many more!
